This is always a busy time of the year, at least for me. First Friday allows us to slow down and listen to Jesus say to us: “My yoke is easy and my burden is sweet.”
Rest, rest, rest. I tend to run around, to fill any free moment with something that has fallen between the cracks — whether it be errands, chores and missed opportunities with family and friends. Devotion to the Sacred Heart demands that we stop — and that we rest in His Heart. As Saint Ignatius of Loyola said, he didn’t want even one fingernail of his to be outside the wound in the heart of Jesus.
