The Church of the Twelve Holy Apostles is a 6th-century Roman Catholic parish and titular church and minor basilica in Rome, Italy, dedicated originally to St. James and St. Philip whose remains are kept here, and later to all Apostles. Today, the basilica is under the care of the Conventual Franciscans, whose headquarters in Rome is in the adjacent building.

The Cardinal Priest of the Titulus XII Apostolorum is Angelo Scola. Among the previous Cardinal Priests are Pope Clement XIV, whose tomb by Canova is in the basilica, and Henry Benedict Stuart.

Pope Clement XIV approved the Rule of Saint Paul of the Cross and had a profound friendship with Saint, visiting him many times.

Prayer over the People

Let us pray.

Bow your heads to God.

Graciously hear us, merciful God, and reveal to our minds the light of Your grace. Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end.

R. Amen.

In light of this prayer, I propose the following prayer. Recently a priest told me, not only is it good to prepare for the Feast of Feasts, Easter, during this Lenten period, but also to prepare for the Feast of Pentecost, less than 90 days from now, praying for the graces I need from the Holy Ghost.

Seven-Gifts-Holy-Spirit-squared1

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.
Amen.
